Just as a bump - any idea what's going on regarding my attempts to import some Darknut stuff over Marth? It seems to be irritatingly hellbent on not working.
 
This is a strange one.. It seems like it's failing to decompress the resource(us_en) file that was pulled from your DT file. After this happens, is there a resource(us_en) or resource(us_en).dec in the same directory as the application?

I'm having this problem when trying to patch a few of Waddle Dee's files over Kirby. It gives me the following error.

Same deal in trying to patch Darknut of Marth, actually, down to where the code starts to what it says. I'm going to assume the files in your patch folder become read only too?

Yeah, it turns my patch folder into read-only after trying to patch the dt archive.
 
Having an issue.

Trying to replace Marth's model files - or at least some of them - with that of the Darknut from Smash Run. I keep getting to this, and oddly the folder becomes read-only.

I see that the resource(us_en) was patched successfully so you should still be able to test it. Also good luck getting that Darknut idea working, I've tried a ton of model swaps and that Pikongchu is the only one that didn't freeze.

Hmm. Not quite sure really, what were you trying to do when this happened?

I increased the length of Little Mac's Jolt Haymaker. I've stopped bothering with these errors however, as I realized as long as the resource_en gets patched, I'll be able to test the mod.
 

This file is just garbage, which means that for some reason the program is reading from the wrong address. It's also the wrong size, which means it's probably reading the wrong resource entry.. I don't know what could be causing that. I would need too try and replicate the problem (which means i would need the files your trying to patch in)

Correct, if your language is english it will be fine, but will crash the other localized files..

For all those having trouble patching, would you all mind uploading or sending me a copy of the files your trying to patch in? That will help me with debugging.
 
I got it to work finally. I was trying to patch dt and ls with every file extracted from them with only a few having been changed, but I used just the changed files and it worked! Thanks for your awesome tool!

In addition to the repacker, i'm also starting work on a new app called Noah. Noah will basically be a data explorer / viewer for smash 3ds/wiiu. I could just add functionality to BrawlBox for these files but Brawlbox's infrastructure is less suited than a dedicated app for dealing with these files in particular. There are many files which are only used in smash and not reused in any other game.

In any case, the GUI is a WiP:

Why the name Noah thoooo, you could just name it NeoBox or 4Box or Dreamhackbox

tried to replace these darknut files with the respective files Marth has strewn all over the dt file.

Well played, well played indeed. I see what you did there :P

Really though, it was between Salt and Noah. I thought that if i came up with a full fighter creator (params, acmd, mscsb, model, animations, etc) that i would name it Salt. So naturally N0aH for the data viewer. Besides, Noah may or may not evolve into a more sophisticated toolchain for general game modding.

But for now, plans for Noah will (probably) be to display models and animations as well as preview moves and display hitboxes. :)

I'm just imagining all the moveset hacking possibilities now that there's custom moves. A character could literally have 3 entirely different movesets or playstyles with hacked customs.

Yeah, I'm absolutely sure it wouldn't take [as] much effort [as brawl] to change how the game works in order to allow for things like changing entire movesets with the custom options, or things like switching movesets with taunt being far easier.

Plus if someone [is high enough to even attempt to make, or successfully] makes another PM, we can have the Shinesplosion be an actual thing!

Almost forgot to note - didn't Sammi once mention that not patching all the way through _sp will cause issues, or..

How do I unpack the update with this tool?
You don't. Kernel access -> decrypt data on sd card, process is not very friendly -> fuse with romfs when a full repacker is complete

Am I correct in thinking this value controls the angle the move launches you at? When I change it nothing seems to happen (except for the fact that Samus' shield, down tilt, and down taunt freezes now.)
