Excuse my ignorance on this matter but should I write to the CTRNAND or is able it if I am on B9S?
Thanks.
You do not have to write to CTRNAND as it is optional. You now have to enable CTRNAND writing when you update or restore a backup.

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!! I didn't read the "don't update to latest nightly".... Now I think I bricked my new 3ds... I updated using Luma updater, gave permission to write to CTRNAND... It said completed, but now my new 3ds won't even start!!!! I press the power button it flashes blue then turns off. I tried holding it down, i tried pressing start and power, I tried removing sd card... My 3ds won't turn on!! Please help me!!!! I had previously already updated to the latest boot9strap before trying to update... FYI

Delete your current boot.firm on your SD card, then rename boot.firm.bac to boot.firm. This is why we read the warnings that people give. I didn't say "do not update to the latest hourly" because I felt like it. :/

I know I didn't read the post at the top, I missed that part.... I'm only human... thank you for helping! :) Is there another fix? cuz I tried that already.... I deleted the boot.firm and renamed the boot.firm.back to boot.firm..... but still no luck. 3ds still doesn't boot. Light flashes blue then turns off... does nothing. :(

Redownload the latest version of Luma (7.1) and use that boot.firm. If that didn't work, I don't know what else to tell you.

I will try that. Thank you for helping me... I will reply after I try that. I sure hope its not like un-fixable... If you think of any other fixes let me know please... I'm not a super experienced, but I know my way around a bit.

That is the only other fix.

YOU ARE A GOD!!! I LOVE YOU!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! IT WORKED YAAAAAAAAAY! I took the boot.firm from the luma zip again, so a fresh one. I copied it to my root and replaced the other boot.firm. It fixed my issue. My 3ds is up and running again. :)

Hey, what if the hourlies start working normally again? There's no reason for this. People know how to read.
Some people ignore the important stuff. If the hourlies start working again, she'll update it again.

Maybe you should just make 2 builds. Super Duper Noob Stable Build and Ultra Mega Highly Unstable "Developer" Build. SDNSB should ONLY download stable builds while UMHUDB downloads either.

At this rate, I might have to. Although, the hourly builds are supposedly working again, so maybe I'll do that when the hourly builds are broken again.

On second thought, it might be better to just disable hourly/nightly. We don't really need to be that "up to date". If the users really need whatever feature in the hourly that badly, they should be able to download it themselves. It would get rid of some of the noobs going "OMG, I bricked!!! HALP!!!" and are people that lazy about doing it manually?

That's probably a better idea.

I am not lazy. My laptop is dead and having to use my phone to download the hourlies and send them to my 3DS's SD card every single time is counterproductive.

You don't need to download EVERY SINGLE HOURLY! If there's an hourly with a feature you really want, sure, do that. But if it's just a simple minuscule thing that you don't care about, don't.

You are telling this to someone who's maniacal with having everything updated. I'm just like that.
