Hello my PacBunny Friend!!! I've been using

CATSFC-Libretro​

for SNES games for AGES. Every SNES game I have on it runs PERFECTLY, look WAY BETTER THAN THEY SHOULD, and just about all of them run @ 60FPS (Super Metroid, Earthworm Jim, Donkey Kong Country, etc.). The ONLY game, and I mean the ONLY game that doesn't run on it is Star Fox. It's a mess...and I guess for a good reason.

Is there anything about this new emulator that supersedes it???

Just asking, just asking.

EDIT: I just installed and tried this emulator, and Star Fox is just as bad on the Chimera as it is on the CATSFC-LIBRETRO.

I didn't bother checking out anything else, because all of my other SNES Roms work flawlessly on the CATSFC-LIBRETRO emulator, it's just a fantastic SNES emulator for the PS Vita.

And while I've NOT checked out the special features of this app, and that I am also GRATEFUL to the developer/s who made this app, I will stick to what I have that works great for SNES games.

I want to ask, are those results were tested with overclock?

I test everything without any overclock tools. Its a very good emulator here.

something I do not understand ->
Secret of Evermore = working perfect
Secret of Mana = music is out of sync

Secret of Mana and Evermore use the same engine, the only difference is that Mana is based on 16 meg cartridge and Evermore is based on 24 meg cartridge.
So its funny that Mana make so many trouble. A sound fix would be great, I love Mana games. I do not know where this problem come from.

Found a small problem ->

Currently I play intense Secret of Evermore German PAL Rom up and down plus speedrun tricks and its all fine working.
But, the 'Real Save files' are NOT working and gets corrupt Black screen, only 'Save State and Auto Save' is working mostly perfect. I know some speedrun glitches produce save file errors for Evermore, but I was testing more than one time.
Its not a big problem since save state works fine.
A second test from Mario RPG where I am on Chapter 3 (~5hours gameplay time), the Real Save File was working !
Donkey Kong Country 1 PAL was making trouble, read test notes. Super Metroid is working perfect so far.


Secret of Evermore PAL German :
Real Save files = NOT Working, Black Screen (some speedrun glitches also produce save file errors on original cartridge)
Save State and Auto Save = WORKING (complete working from start to end, plus speedrun glitch's working)
The game was NOT crash one time, wow ! On original cartridge the game like to crash.

Super Mario RPG NTSC US :
Real Save files = WORKING
Save State and Auto Save = WORKING

Donkey Kong Country 1 PAL :
Real Save files = MISSING in first try (read notes ! its also working but skirmish)
Save State and Auto Save = WORKING (on world 1 with 14%)
Note : After force to get 'game over' title and RESET the Rom 3 times, the Real Save file was there and working.

Super Metroid PAL German :
Real Save files = WORKING (beginning ship landing)
Save State and Auto Save = WORKING
Million thanks, Metroid is perfect, one of my most favorite games, love it.

New Test Secret of Mana 2 German Patch Rom music + sound problem ->
There are only some small music samplers that are incorrect working, and this problem is not on all music tracks. So its good Playable ! (JAP NTSC Rom same result) (Trails of Mana Switch Rom = Working so far)

New Test Secret of Mana 1 music + sound problem ->
The music score on all tracks are total bad incorrect working, not good, sadly. (also US NTSC Rom + JAP NTSC Rom)

Did you try the fastrom patch of Secret of Mana in order to verify if the emulation improves a bit?

No need for fastrom patch of Secret of Mana. The problem is the music, not the framerate.
Since Emu4Vita play it perfect with untouched rom file, problem solved.

I USE CATSFC-LIBRETRO-vita MOD v.1

I've been through several SNES emulators, including RetroArch. This is by far the best SNES emulator I've ever used. Using the default configuration (other than stretching the scree to fill up all of the Vita's screen acreage), games look FANTASTIC on this emulator.


The only game on it that I cannot get running is STAR FOX. Due to its 3-D graphics it just doesn't work w/ this emulator (and I've not see one that does. Doesn't mean that it "doesn't exist", I'm just saying I've not seen it as of yet).

Any variation of snes9x (chimera is based on it) cant display roms on widescreen format. AFAIK the only available snes emulator capable of widescreen is bsnes HD.

chimera and emu4vita has a widescreen option. I dont get it ???

That's probably just an option to stretch the 4:3 image to 16:9. The version of bsnes you need to run the widescreen romhacks is probably too demanding for the Vita to handle.
