Can anyone make some "Free multi patcher" cakes?

"Nim patching to prevent automatic download of system updates" automatically during every boot would be very nice

and "Nim patching for e-Shop Access" too

I'll be looking into these kind of things soon, when I have time (and have finished some other stuff I've been working on).
DHS already patches the dlp service, nim should kind of be the same process. But I want to try to do it in some pluggable way.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Thanks, firmware9.5.bin is the right one. One more thing: when do we uncheck the "disable sig checks" ?

You only uncheck it if you don't need to run homebrew/pirated stuff.

BTW @mid-kid how far away is the DHS branch from at least a partial merge for the CIA network functions? This would simplify things so much for o3ds users to at least get FBI installed without the use of CN... And if yellows8's browserhax stuff can be used to install MSET ROPs from Skater then CN usage would be uneeded for a full CFW install on n3ds, it would require nothing but browser and SD cards, and if/when 8.x MSET ROP comes out 8.1j users (i think this is the firmware without a browser) can just use a cheap flashcart to install MSET, boot into Cakes then install FBI from the network and maybe even a browser CIA and there we go, a solution that makes it all super convenient, I know this stuff will probably take awhile to come out but still, the future it bright :)

Here's what's keeping me from merging it:
First of all, the implementation. I don't like how it has some things done in a way I don't think they should be done, or should be more generalized to allow for other cakes to use the same functionality (patching services in general, for example).
Next, remember ctrclient from yellows8's CFW? Remember how DHS was reverse engineered from it? It's got some of the same problems. For example, if you don't connect to the network fast enough, it will crash and possibly hang your console. Some problems can't be fixed (with my current knowledge), but they can be made easier to live with. (Remember all the threads having problems connecting? Yeah, I don't really want to live through that again.)

That said, before b1l1s left, he managed to patch DHS to access the SD card. To my knowledge, that should be enough to have it install FBI from the SD card. Why haven't I done it yet? No interest, in all honesty. I'd rather take my time to fiddle around with it and learn how it works, first.

DHS just isn't a priority for me. My priority right now is mostly learning. The reason nobody has put up a build with DHS is because it can be hard to use for a lot of people. But if you feel like building it, creating a tutorial, and help all the people having problems with it, be my guest.

Cool thanks for the info, also installing FBI from the SD would be awesome :) hopefully b1l1s will come back sometime in the near future... Just a suggestion though maybe make it something accessible from the cakes menu? Yeah I know you probably don't want to do that... Really though it'd be cool to have a small FBI-like menu and it could probably even use a lot of code from FBI, again all suggestions that probably won't be implemented anytime soon if at all, all I can say though is that rxTools is really inconvenient for these purposes as it doesn't always work properly (I've never gotten it to work on my sysNAND)... Maybe I'll do a little messing around with it once I get my new touch screen shipped in (the ribbon cable broke when I was resoldering the point for my NAND mod :( )

I have an EUR N3DS with 9.0.0-20E.
Somehow I have problems starting CakesFW v99, v98 or v85.

I am trying to start it from CN Homebrew launcher.
I have slot0x25keyX.bin, firmware_bin and firmkey.bin in the right folders.
The CakesFW Configurations screens start, but after booting the CFW I only get a dark screen.

Ninjhax 1.1 or 2.x?

EDIT: this only works with 1.1 so if you're using that try 2.x first, also the firmkey.bin did you rename the cetk file to firmkey.bin? If you did rename it back to cetk and then rerun cakes, it'll auto generate firmkey.bin for you

Hope you get it working

Would it be possible to directly boot to EmuNAND and lets say hold the L button on boot to boot into SysNAND? Basically the same opposite of HomeMenuHax?

Please don't start the conspiracy theory engines before I even have a PoC ready.
Protip: I don't know what homemenuhax is capable of yet.

It wasnt my intention to start anything. Someting very similar to this was developed for the 360 where you could directly boot into the freestyle dash, so I was just wondering.

Hi, is there a tutorial on how to install Cakes on a 9.8.0-25U N3DS with the new broweserhaxx? I think I want Cakes because many say it's the best for N3DS. Thx.

Browserhax only gains userland code execution. We need a kernel exploit, something that isn't public yet for firmwares higher than 9.2.

Hope for yellows8 or smea to release one. I believe they've found one by now (also telling by the wiki change from "no known" to "no public" kernel exploit for > 9.2.) Could also be that someone showed yellows8 a working Kernel Exploit for > 9.2 in action and that'S why he is working so much to find it the last days.

They are against piracy, and they believe that Kernel = piracy so don't count on it.

When/if a kernel exploit is released, don't expect yellows8 or smea to be the author.

I am not saying that I was counting on them to release one. I just said I was expecting them to have one. And you could hope for them to release it.
(At least that's what I was trying to say)
