I saw the Objection font on DeviantArt (deviantart(dot)com/maplerose/art/Ace-Attorney-Objection-font-257614594), and knew I had to make it into a proper font ;)

The Font

There are two versions of the font: one with overlaps, for making objection bubbles, and one without, for regular text usage.
The overlapping font will be recognised by your device as the regular font but italic, so both can be installed at the same time.
The font is a vector font, meaning that it can be scaled up infinitely without losing any resolution.
The font is also a colour font! It is supported on most modern OSes in most modern programs like Photoshop and Chrome.
If you see the letters as black silhouettes, the font is most likely not supported on your program or setup.

Overlaps:

No overlaps:

Key Mappings

I did not add any additional letters or symbols to the original DeviantArt release.
All capital and lowercase English letters are supported by the font, plus two exclamation marks.
As in the original release, there are two lowercase letters S and T. The alternative letters can be typed using the 5 and 7 keys, respectively.
The alternative exclamation mark is mapped to the ? key.
The font also includes the objection bubble itself, which can be typed using the # key.

The Process
for the curious

I first vectorised the DeviantArt image using the online tool vectorizerio.
After that, I cut up the vectorised image into individual symbols using inkscape. All vector graphics are attached.
Then I obtained a full version of the Font Creator application, which, with some pain, let me create this colour font.
See this video youtu(dot)be/J4BSK_ASOlw for an onverview on how to do it. Contact me if you need help.

Files

  • In Fonts.zip:
    • .otf: basic OpenType font, lacking colours
    • .woff/.woff2: WebFont, with colours
    • .fcp: the FontCreator project, for editing the font yourself
  • Letters.zip: a zip file of all the vector graphics used

Final Words, License, Thanks, Contacts

Thanks again to MapleRose on DeviantArt for the original font!

This was fun to do. If something looks wonky, off, or doesn't work, comment down below and I'll try to fix it up.
This font is licensed under the SIL Open Font License, meaning that you can do practically anything with it.
If you use this anywhere public, provide attribution back here and to MapleRose (send a link in the comments as well, I'm curious)
If you find installation too difficult, you can do the following as a workaround:
Install a full copy of FontCreator, open the .fcp and press CTRL+F5 to launch the web preview, where you can type anything in the font.

If you need help with anything, message me here or over discord by joining discord(dot)gg/aceattorney and pinging or DMing Granny#5402.

Last edited by PixelSergey,
I know this is a necrobump but, i'm having an issue. I wanted to use this with Paint 3D. I can, but i can't use custom font sizes. I can with the original Paint, but it doesn't look wright in the original Paint.

Yo, glad somebody finally found this useful! ;)

That's weird. In all honesty, I've forgotten how the colour font specification works now, and what it should do. IIRC I only tested it in the preview feature of the software I was using. Do any other apps, like GIMP (gimp.org) or Photoshop work?
