just done a little update to the script, overlooked that eshop and VC games use a different naming structure than carts so it wouldn't do them properly, this should work with any now.

ok anyone wanting a simple windows script to automatically extract a rom's filesystem, decrypt it and extract the contents

basically make sure you have
the xor pads and the 3ds rom in the folder

make sure you only have the 1 .3ds file in the folder and click on edd.bat

(i know its obvious but i didn't make any of the tools in the file, just the .bat file this is just to make the process super noob friendly)

Any means of repacking the rom with HB zeros keys?

So I have finally decrypted a JPN rom. There's a folder called "text" with a bunch of bin files. Any idea of how to open these bin files?

.bin is pretty generic, really all it indicates is binary data. Could be as simple as text dumped into a binary file, or it could be something else entirely.

Most likely yes, although it's really hard to say without starting to poke at them with something like a hex editor.

Probably the latter.

So here's what it looks like when opened using a binary capable editor. I have little idea of how to proceed from here to getting some text which I can then plug into a translation engine

You'll probably have to poke around a bit further and see if there's anything recognizeable in there. reverse the byte order and you'll get some valid unicode kanji out of it, but given the repetition that's probably just coincidental. It could even be some sort of image format, perhaps a raster font of some kind... too much context missing here and a single screenshot of the top of a file doesn't really show much.

So what information will I need to provide for someone to make sense of it?

Given the increasing nature of the values, I'm led to believe they're offsets (into strings probably). So maybe see if there's any useful unicode at 0x3E84, 0x3EA4 etc.

Whatever happened to ColossalPokemon?
It's like he vanished into the Bermuda Triangle after that exciting tease.

i think he said in some other post maybe in a different thread that is is not ready for public release yet, which sounds like one day it will be ready, and released :)
but don't pressure them
