While I don't have a whole of experience with C/C++, taking a quick look at the source I don't see anything that suggests it can do more than plain text.

Still a cool project though, even if it hasn't been touched in nearly a month.

Works for me. :)
Only tried it with a text file so far.

Freezes as soon as it opens. I'm thinking maybe it's not freezing, but it's not actually loading any files, so I placed copies of my files on both the root of the SD card and in the same folder as the .3dsx and it still doesn't work. If anyone gets it working please detail how you set it up.

You need a folder called Books either in the same folder as the 3dsx or on the sd root with your files in there.
Thank you, that worked.

I just tried .pdf, .doc, .docx, .epub, and .txt, out of which only the last one worked. The others will open but they'll only show garbled data, as if you opened those files with a regular text editor. I experienced some flickering issues while changing the page but it's definitely readable. Hopefully Alberto Sonic updates it further or someone else can pick it up.

If some one would work on this, these things are needed to make it enjoyable:
- are there any inputs? it seems that you have to hold you powerbutton to exit your book
- jumping to pages and bookmarks.
- foreign symbols (ex. Ö,Ü and Ä) since I read my books in german (most of the time)
- suport for ebook formats
- words should not be cut in half at the end of a site

I think it will works with .cbr

If you add support for .epub files, this would be my favorite homebrew. All of my eBooks are in .epub format ;-;
