I've never been disappointed with the R4. I've had it since they were first released. It plays all the games, if it doesn't it soon gets a firmware update. Who cares what the menu looks like. Its all about being able to play the games.

A agree with adgloride. At the end of the day the only thing you want your R4 to do is play games... and it does that well. It's simple to use and plays games. Can't argue with that.

The rumble packs in a DS are just weird and feel rubbish.

Yeah little is right. Rumble packs on DS don't really rumble that much...it's more of a buzzy noise. You just have to ask yourself why you bought a flashcard in the first place. To play DS games or to have a touch screen menu?

R4 has a new update coming out soon that should add a few things and it has most things that other carts have (most important things anyway)

Agree with adgloride too.
I used to have slot2 supercard and i don't have a problem with that, in fact, you see the menu for only few seconds before you get in to game

Well IMO, as long as the R4 fulfills your primary need and does its job well, you shouldn't feel bad. But if it does not live up to its task, feel free to sell it and get an M3 Real.

At the end of the day, your content with your purchase is of utmost significance and must be acquired at all cost.

You'll be waiting a long time if you want real to be language hacked I'd think. We did have a working language hack for M3 perfect SD/CF, but all they had to do was alter something in their update to basically reject it (could update on the wrong language, but features were disabled/useless). Comparing R4 OEM (m3 simply) to the GBAlpha's Actel based designed is like comparing apples to... eggs (counting chickens before they hatch and the like). I for one think the skin would be enough to tell what is going on in a different language version, though they seem to have a "chinese game name list" type thing in the chinese updates.

BTW: I still think it is bloody ridiculous that they are the only ones language locking their after market feature unlocking devices, while relevant competition simply puts out single updates and leaves the languages essentially skin-able.

I, for one, have a feeling I will not ever regret having an R4 around

I got an R4 with an EZ3in1 slot2. I don't regret it a single bit! I've got: any NDS game I want, Portrait of Ruin working just fine, Opera browser working with the 3in1 RAM expansion, GBA games working with GBAldr, rumble on Metroid Pinball... I don't see what more I'd want. If you want rumble or Opera you can always choose to get a 3in1, it works just fine with the R4, and it'll still be cheaper than ditching your R4 in favour of an M3DSReal, which as far as I can see ONLY has rumble, and no GBA NOR memory or Opera RAM expansion.

I got both an R4DS and a M3 Perfect Lite. The M3 is used only for GBA games (where I have an urge to play them). None the less I got them both at the same time. They both take microSD cards and work very well. I also was going back and forth between the M3/G6 Real and the R4DS. I chose the R4 due to its expandable storage which the M3 Real does not have. The M3 real is built-in storage which means you are stuck with what you have.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
