I'm getting an NTSC (USA) wii soon and it's probably gonna be a D2C

, thing is I already ordered a CycloWiz modchip, did I just throw away $40 or is it possible that a firmware upgrade will be available (soon?) and I could just upgrade it through PC?

The D2C will require a new method of accessing the drive chip. It's not just simply a change of password or something, it's more physical, hardware related. It's possible you might be able to physically modify the Cyclowiz to be compatible once they figure out how to crack the D2C, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You can update the cyclowiz with your computer, so if D2C is moddable with similar enough to current modchip hardware it's possible you can update the firmware of the cyclowiz and add whatever modifications to the cyclowiz necessary and install it to work in your D2C, but again, this is just speculation and I wouldn't hold my breath.
