Only if you're running an emachine from '98 that can't handle video compression on the fly.

The default codec that Camtasia uses is pretty nice in terms of quality, keeps vibrant colours and isn't too taxing on the system. Since you're recording from no$GBA it's going to be pretty low-res anyway so you shouldn't get any framerate drops.
