This is my own personal standpoint, and I'm not saying it is the B3ST METH0D EVAR, but it works for me.

For the users who are experiencing problems with their Passcards (or equivalents), I recommend flashing the DS. If your passcard works 1/5 times, you should really consider installing FlashMe before you can no longer boot at all. One of my friend's PassCard 3 crapped out, then I flashed his DS so he didn't have to buy another one. He wonders why he wanted to spend the $30 when I was here ready to flash the whole time. While I believe in buying a working product, a lot of these sellers are overseas and could lose your return shipment.

This isn't meant to rile up people and cause a debate. I'm just presenting an alternative to the dying cards.

I agree unless the person is electronically inept in which this user should run out and buy a new Nopass device right away since you and I both know they will have a brand new shiny brick on their table if they try this, LOL. Otherwise if you can change the RAM in your computer you can flash your DS.

Has anyone really bricked their DS? I haven't seen it, everyone always gets the recovery mode to work.

Anyone who claims their DS is bricked from FlashMe is one of the following.

1. Misinformed about Recovery Mode and the overwhelming likelihood it's already in place.
2. So inept at electronics that they shouldn't have started the whole flashcard business in the first place.

There's a higher risk of blowing the fuse with these DSLs you know. People who were.. ept enough blew 'em because of lack of information when flashing.
Anywho, I personally think passcards aren't a viable substitute for FlashMe at any time.
Unless the whole download play not working is flashme's fault. But people have blamed that and just about everything else on that problem, often with senseble technical explanations or tests to back up their points.

He's right, you know.....

Outphase, the DS lite's SL1 hole is different than the normal DS. On the normal DS, the hole is completely surrounded by plastic; there's nothing metal to short except the SL1 target half circles, so you can't brick a normal DS if you were even stupid, unless the battery fell out (or you turned off the DS, in which case you deserve to brick -yourself- along with the DS...)

On the DSL, there is metal (which apparently is connected to the metal where the screw in the second hole goes) nicely hidden (deliberately?) from view in the SL1 hole, which means a bad angle of insertion or wiggling can short it....and poof, off goes the DS Lite.

People flashing SHOULD make EVERY attempt to read at least TWO guides on it. And after they have done that, if they don't use an insulated tool, they DESERVE to brick their DS.

Every guide I've seen says to use an insulated tool, unless the guide was written for the old DS, where it wasn't necessary. (and I'm stupid; even I didn't understand the Lite guide clearly at first, until I watched a video and looked at a second guide....my brain must be degenerating in my old age...)

Last I heard, the blown fuse situation was still repairable. Besides, I've turned my DS Lite off many times the first time I attempted to flash it. By turning off, I mean my collection of tools hit something inside and turned it off.
