jesus do never buy storage of any kin on ali. it's almost guaranteed to be fake.

U mean u3 ?
before, in the ancient times of 2015, all we had to worry about was the class. higher class usually means higher data rates. though it doesn't really mean that much unless you wanna put it into a 4k camcorder.
I don't think that any of the current cards are below class 10 anymore.
still, it makes sense to check just in case.

How many games up I get on a 256gb?

highly depends, again, switch games vary from a few mb to ~15 gb. some like doom and la noire i think go well beyond that.
a whole bunch of them are somewhere inbetween. many indies are like 1-2 gb.
I'm currently using about 280 of my 400gb card and am at about 60 games, since i got a lot of smaller indie games and I did remove some larger games I finished, like the fractured but whole, that, with updates, took a whole 21 gb.

at the current price of 80$ (seems like amazon is currently out of stock though, but you can still order at that price), unless you're somehow hurting for money or absolutely require slightly faster loading times, getting a 400gb sandisk is likely the best price/utility option. you only get 256gb from a samsung u3 card for that money at the moment.

then again, if you don't really plan to get dozens of titles and aren't as much of a horder as some, you'll probably be fine with the much cheaper 128/200gb card. and you can always upgrade later and use the old card in your phone or whatever.

You mean exabytes, right?

Nah, gigaquads, like they have on the Enterprise. :P

In more seriousness, 128 seemed huge when I bought it in the summer, but I'm already feeling like it's not enough.

You could use sxos and a dock and use a usb external drive (not thumbstick, actual drive) if you need cheap space and you don't care much about handheld, just "hoarding" as you say...

I’m a better get u3 if I’m using xci?

well, i guess you would, xcis load ridiculously slow (in some instances, xci load times are more than 3 times as long on u1 cards, compared to nsp load times on the same card). u3 cards bring those loadtimes down to almost u1 nsp levels, apparently.

the problem (at least in my opinion, you might feel different) is that not only do xcis load slower, they also take up more space than installed nsps. with u3 cards being significantly more expensive per gb, this is like the worst combination.
though i might remember wrong, I read something like 30% more space untrimmed and 5-10 trimmed, but dont quote me on that.
now, if you actually have loads of money to burn you might as well go for u3

if you're opting for u3, i think thats as cheap as it gets currently.

Dont listen to people like the above one.
Not only does Samsung product trash, those speeds make literally 0 difference with Switch.
no, it actually does make a difference, even if its only for xci loading, people did load time comparisons on youtube.
