CAPITALISM, HO!

See this at #3 on Steam's Top Sellers list and I'm like WAT.
Read that it is a doujin(indie) game. :| Doujin game on Steam. :|
Download demo... plays likes a SIM THEME ATELIER ITEM SHOP TYCOON.
It's kinda awesome. :B

But what makes me want to really purchase this game is that if this sells well (it is already I guess since it's at fookin #3), the guys who are localizing this would probably do more Japanese indie games.
Also, Japanese indie developers would see that there is a market for their games all over the world.

Also; it's cheap.

Don't let the cutesy graphics turn you off. The localization is pretty good (and funny at some parts too). Give it a try.
It will run even on your old shitty computer.

So has anyone else played the demo?
DEMO HERE: http://www.carpefulgur.com/recettear/demo.htm or on Steam if you are classy.

(Since this is an indie game, it has no DRM and will probably be pirated by a lot of you fuckers. >:( Heh.)

I played the demo a number of weeks ago. Thought it was pretty good idea and unique. Instead of being the adventurer, you're the shopkeeper selling them items, who is then pressured into doing it by a loan shark fairy. Will definitely consider getting the final game.

I was about to come here and make a thread about this game.

The game is incredibly fun. I really suggest people who are even mildly interested try the demo, which is long as hell.

Some guy in IRC pointed out this game to me on Steam. finished the demo in an hour and loved it

I would love to buy the full game which means I need to get access to a credit card.

. Also the demo didn't really work for me (though trying a bit more might have been a good idea) so yea can't really help it ^^.

20$ is too steep?
Lol piracy sure has made people cheap these days.

The gameplay hours/dollar value ratio is WAY skewed in favor of gameplay hours.
Though i'd rather give 15$ to the original developers, and 5$ to the translators.

If it was on disc and not on Steam, I would think it's an alright deal.

Even though the games stick with you, no matter what computer, I dunno, it's the thought of buying something that much but not /really/ owning it.

Like with buying programs.

Considering that optical media tend to fail over time I prefer digitally downloaded media over it. I've had to buy Heroes of Might & Magic 3 four times thanks to optical media failing leaving me without a proper disc. Last time I bought a copy from GoG though so that should be the end of those problems.

Wow, they actually finished localising it in less than a year.

QUOTEWith any luck, Recettear won't be our only project, and there's a few things we're rather eager to do. We will have to see, though!

You can buy it from somewhere other than Steam. They have other sellers. And the game is completely DRM free, so you'll be able to put it whereever the hell you want, including a disc if you so choose.
