Hi, I'm discovering the joys of owning a Wii in the year of 2026. Better late than never. Been playing the NTSC Virtual Console version of Star Fox 64 a bunch, and there's this annoying audio distortion that's hard to ignore throughout the game, like the audio is crackling. It's most noticable in the end credits. This video I found on youtube shows it off as well, so I know the issue isn't just on my end: (45:56 in case the timestamp doesn't work) I was surprised how nobody online seems to have discussed this over the years. Has anyone else noticed this or similar issues on other n64 VC releases? Is the cause known? Out of curiosity, I did try the PAL Lylat Wars release, and the audio was perfectly fine in that one.

I have a Wii from launch. it is softmodded and i am running ver 4.1u. Until yesterday my son had no problem running any of his games, whether it was an ISO or original cd. Since this morning, any cd i put (ISO or Original Wii cd), i get to see the name of the game on the wii home screen but when i try to load the game i get the error message saying i need to eject and consult the manual. Sometimes the games load the intro screen and then this message comes up. I did some research and found that often it is the lazer lens in the wii that gets dirty or doesnt work anymore. I also noticed that it takes some more time to load the cd than usual.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know i can purchase the replacement lazer lens from ebay but i just want to make sure i am going in the right direction before i start.
