This is a specific problem that I have not seen an example of in my google searches. Here are the steps I took:
- Installed a game's pkg file, tried to run it, as expected, it doesn't work and asks me to sign in to PSN
- Took the .rap file that came with the .pkg file and put it into a usb stick in the folder "exdata" on the root of the usb
- Plugged the usb into the rightmost slot of the PS3
- Created the "aa" user on my PS3 and logged into it, and then launched ReactPSN
- It goes to a black screen and reboots. But nothing changes. I'm still logged in as the "aa" user, and the game still asks me to sign in to PSN when I try to launch it.
I did not rename the .rap file, and it does not have uppercase letters in the .rap extension. What could be the problem here? Is it just a faulty .rap file that I got somehow, or what?
The one thing I could think of is that the .pkg file that I installed had a totally different filename than the .rap file that came with it. I'm not sure if that matters. The .pkg file's filename was just a bunch of random characters, while the .rap file's filename looks like how a game file would be named. Is it possible that uninstalling the .pkg file, and then renaming it to be the same as the .rap file and installing it again that when it is named that way could work? I'll try it if I don't get any other answers.
EDIT: I got it to work somehow. I could've sworn I tried this already, but the next time I tried launching ReactPSN while logged into my main account (not the "aa" account), it actually did what it was supposed to this time, and it rebooted the system and now the "aa" account was replaced with a ReactPSN account, and now when I log into my main account and launch the game, it works.
So my issue was believing the faulty/badly worded instructions I saw that said you had to log into the "aa" account and launch ReactPSN from there, but that was wrong. Following these above instructions (up until you create the "aa" user), and then launching ReactPSN from your main account instead, is the correct method.
