Because my NS Atmosphere injector battery is swelling I decided to get an RCM Loader off ebay as that is the only injector that seems to be available. Not too sure how to get it updated though. I used the provided USB cable and it does not show up as a USB device. Tried a few different USB cables including the one that came with the NS Atmosphere, and it does not show up.

Is there something I need to do to access it on PC so I can upload the latest build of Atmosphere fusee.bin on it? I press the + button but it does not make it detectable. When plugged it the light does turn red, and hitting the + button makes it blue as long as it is held down. But otherwise, I cannot figure out how to write new data to it.

From what i know of these newer rcm loaders do not connect to a pc. Instead they read a payload.bin from the root of your sd card instead.

There are two little holes on the bottom of your rcm loader one of them is a reset switch use a needle or a paperclip to reset it.

So I would download the fusee.bin from Github and place that on the root of the SD card, and then put the switch in RCM and inject it?

You probably got the non updateable one, the original one is no longer available for purchase.

Thanks, did this and though it does not seem to respond when placed into the Switch. Even after clicking the + button.

Edit: Tried it a bit more. Putting payload.bin (renamed from fuse.bin from Github) does not work on either decvice. Removing the file from the SD cart root works with the NS Atmosphere injector like usual.

Regardless of the payload.bin file's presence, the RCM Loader does not do anything. It just shows a blue light when plugged into the Switch.

An RCM loader will not read anything from the SD card from the Switch.
That's bullocks. The RCM loader cannot access the SD card from the Switch.

For the newer RCM loaders, just connect it with the microUSB cable to your PC and it should show up as an USB drive.
The newer ones has this LED color which indicates which payload from which folder is selected.
So a blue led will inject the payload for Atmosphere.

Make sure the payload in that folder is the same version as your Hekate/Atmosphere version on your SD card.
Putting fusee.bin in the root will not work. The RCM loader looks for it inside the folders with the names below.

When connecting the RCM loader with the microUSB port, you will only need to press the button to update the firmware of the RCM loader itself.

Both the included USB cable and the one for the NS Atmosphere do not work, it is not detected in Windows. It does not show up in Disk Manager either. A light does come on when plugged in but that is it. Is there some button pressing sequence or software that must be used for it to show up in Windows?

I had this issue before. In my case, either the included cable wasn't playing nicely with my PC, or it had something to do with the reset button the other user mentioned.

When you connect it to your PC, it should show up just like a USB flash drive and automatically open a folder. Once that happens, you should be able to drag and drop files onto it—in your case, the payload.

if you can't get the loader working on your PC, just use an Android phone and the Rekado app.

https://github.com/MenosGrante/Rekado
LOL, oh yeah—I remember using Rekado. It worked for me for a while, then suddenly stopped, which is why I ended up buying an RCM Loader instead.

The scary part is that one day the batteries in both my Switch and my RCM Loader are going to die, and then I'll probably be scrambling to figure everything out again. sigh

It probably just needed updated payloads. The dev is usually quick on pushing them to the built in payload updater, but if they miss a hekate or fusee update you can add the latest ones manually. I've never had it fail in the 4 years I've used it. :)

There are two cut outs and I put a paper clip in them but there does not seem to be a reset button. Unless you need to hit it at a very specific angle, it just goes through and you'll be poking what I assume is the PCB.

Does anyone know of a reputable store that sells these, preferably on ebay or Amazon?

Solid/pulsating blue light? That just means it's charging, which it shouldn't do if you are in RCM mode.

If the light flashes that means it's trying to inject.

These newer RCMloaders only load Hekate and rely on the update.bin functionality built into Hekate in order to load the latest Hekate version from your SD. You need Hekate on your SD for that to work obviously.

It doesn't really matter where you buy it from, they're all the same feature stripped knockoffs now. My guess of what happened is that the original company stopped making them but the factory that had the case molds decided to continue making knockoffs of much cheaper quality and since they didn't have the PCB files they came up with a different internal design.
I still have my original RCMloader and the battery on it is shot. So even if you could somehow find the original version for sale the battery is probably shot too. Those batteries really don't last. I had to buy a new RCMloader for my cousin because his would not charge anymore, so now he has the feature stripped shitty version. But at least it works. Mine still charges enough to inject payloads but it just doesn't hold a charge.

This is not applicable to the newer RCMloaders. They only have a blue light and they aren't flashable/updatable in any way. The only thing pressing the button does is cause the blue light to turn on while you hold it.

When plugged into my PC a solid Red light. When inserting it into the Switch, solid Blue light.

How would I set up Hekate on the SD Card for this to work? Currently I just put the atmosphere files onto the SD card, so not sure what version of Hekate is installed as I haven't used it in a very long time. I assume once I load up Hekate I can then load into Atmosphere without other junk ware?

Would I still need to update something on the RCM loader itself? I still cannot get it to be detected on any USB port.

Oh yeah I guess it did have a red light. Not sure what the difference between red and blue is on these because there's no documentation for the new version. But it kind of sounds like it's not injecting. Even on the new version I think the light should turn off after it injects. Maybe I'm misremembering though.

Just extract the latest Hekate.zip on the SD, it already comes with the update.bin in the right location.
Put fusee.bin in bootloader/payloads and select it from the Hekate payloads menu.

Then if you want it to autoboot fusee.bin you will want hekate_ipl.ini to look something like this (you can just save the contents to a file named hekate_ipl.ini and put it in the bootloader folder, make sure your fusee.bin is named the same as the boot entry)
Code:
[config]
autoboot=1
autoboot_list=0
bootwait=3
noticker=0
backlight=100
autohosoff=1
autonogc=1
updater2p=1
bootprotect=0

[Fusee]
payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee.bin
(hold - to cancel autoboot if you want to access the Hekate menu)

Going to try this in a bit.

I assume I just extract:
hekate_ctcaer_6.5.3_Nyx_1.9.3.zip

Onto my SD card. fusee.bin from the Atmosphere Github in the bootloader/payloads folder, and that should be it?

Don't want it to auto boot into Hekate or Atmosphere. Want it as stripped down as possible for online use. I only use it for backing up and editing game saves. I assume when I do that, it just launches into Hekate, and then I select the payload would should like into Atmosphere like usual?

Edit: On my SD card I have the following files under:

bootloader\payloads

fusee-primary.bin
Lockpick_RCM.bin

I am assuming neither of those are necessary anymore? Generally when I update the fusee.bin I just write it to the NS Atmosphere, so I am thinking those are old out of date files.
