i just played the last of us for the first time and my mind is blown. i knew it was a good game, but DAMN. this is a new level of gaming. although im not entirely sure it is a video game its feels more like a work of art and it amazes me that something like this exisits let alone eleven years ago for refrence this game came out when obama was on his second term geometrey dash realeased and i learned how to talk

Amazing game for sure. Glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. Curious which version you played. PS3 OG? PS4 Remastered? Or PS5 "Part I" Remake? Each one was a pretty big step up graphically from the previous.

I played the PS3 original back in the day too. I felt like it was better than the Uncharted games because it had more gameplay focus. Don't get me wrong, the Uncharted series has amazing setpieces and each game was meticulously designed, but the bulletsponge enemies really brought down the experience.

The Last of Us was more stealth and exploration focused, and it made for a better game.

It's one of the best. I think I originally played the PS3 version on uh the PS streaming thing (don't recommend), then played it again on PS4. I'd be curious to try the PS5 version, but not enough to buy a PS5.

You could go back to the 90's and find great games will they blow you away graphically? No, but that shouldn't be the most important thing. Story gameplay fun being entertained is more important.

You make me feel old I was 31 when that game came out (I am old)

It's fairly high on my backlog list (ps4 version), so I'll probably try and get through it by the end of the year

Last of us is more of an old fashioned adventure game than a straight action game, because of all the cutscenes. Like an adventure cutscene game with some shooting bits in between.

What about the exploring, stealth, crafting, and melee combat? It's much more than a movie with a few shooting bits here and there.

i was talking about the last of us is it a game or something more
I'll be honest, I didn't understand your question, but I've had a massive headache for a day or so, so please be patient with me.

I was impressed by the game, and it seems you've had a strong response to it. It reminds me of how I was fascinated by 90's Squaresoft, back in the day. If video games are your hobby, you eventually come across ones that become memorable for you.

Yes you nailed it, 31 + 11 = 70. You'll be here one day when I was 12 I thought I'd never get old either.

Regardless of my age or your age, when you pay attention to how many games from the past they are remaking and remastering, you should consider that today is not the golden age of gaming. You're blown away that an 11 year old game could be good, and I'm just telling you there were even good games before that as crazy as it sounds I know it was before you were born but yes good games existed before you were born.

If I was your age I guarantee you I'd be exploring older games I just have a curious mind like that and I think more younger people should not think the world didn't exist before they did. Some of the best games of all time were made in the 90's and between 2000-2010.

Here's a thought instead of thinking someone is just an old fart who has no clue what he's talking about, maybe since I experienced multiple generation of games including today's so I have perspective on both old and new games I might know what I'm talking about, crazy I know. Most of today's games have some connection to older games in one way or another in gameplay or something else. The industry copies each other.

You don't have to explore older games there's no obligation for you to do so, but there is a benefit for you to do so. I didn't give this advice because it somehow helps me. Last of Us was great, I'm just trying to open your mind to other great games but if you want to just consider me an old fart and you want to think Last of Us was the first game ever that was any good that's totally your call. The PS2 was one of the greatest systems of all time, and you could probably hack that PS3 and play PS2 backups for free and have a blast doing so, even if the graphics aren't super hi-rez definition.

Those are just shooter cliches, necessary for any shooter game of the time.

There are already the group of people that bash The Last of Us (and other "Sony" games) for being a "movie" and not an actual game. Going around claiming that it's just mostly cinematics with some shooting here and there doesn't help, and is VERY inaccurate.

it seems almost like it goes beyond the game itself id call it an exprince in addition to a game

I'm not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. There is a group of people that think The Last of Us and other "Sony" games are not really games at all, but more like movies with very little to no game play. I was saying that generalizing TLoU as just cinematics with some shooting in-between is not an accurate thing for LoggerMan (or anyone else) to say. I wasn't saying it's much more than a game, I was saying it's much more than a movie with little to no game play. It's a game, with a great story, and plenty of game play.
