Hacking r4i-sdhc.com card repair

hi ive got 2 of these r4i 3ds cards from r4i-sdhc.com. one is working and one is not on my latest firmware dsi xl. was wondering if i could use the working one (demo from metroid )to boot up and flash the non working one which i suppose has older firmware in it ( narnia game icon) or if theres no other way to flash it than using an older firmware dsi or dsxl. thanks.

What you're referring to involves swapping the carts... but the DSi series does not allow cart swapping. Only the original DS and DS Lite allow it.
