I'm talking about this http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/ R4i SDHC, and this http://www.r4i-gold.eu/ R4i Gold. Telling you that because of the sick amount of clones, and they're not all the same. I have an Acekard 2i, which I have successfully flashed with my old, fat DS, now working on my 3DS in DS mode. Thing is, I don't know how to do that for the other two cards I have (the R4i SDHC and R4i Gold), because the websites are not even nearly as clear and easily navigated as that of the Acekard. If anyone could help me out with this, be it a simple reaction telling me that no, I can't, or some instructions or links, I'd be glad to hear. Keep in mind that I'm new to these forums, and that I'm not used to its format of navigation, meaning that this topic may be recurring and pointless. If so, a link to a similar topic followed by the deletion of this one would be nice.

>genuine R4i Gold.
Wish I had one, but seeing as how I don't, I'm going to have to look for a solution.

Only the R4i-SDHC 3DS and the R4i Gold 3DS can be flashed to work on the 3DS v2 update. The other types of R4i SDHC or R4i Gold from r4i-gold.eu (like "V1.4" or "V1.4.1" or "V1.4.2") are not confirmed to work on the 3DS at all.

As for how to update, try reading through my FAQ, it was expressly written to make all this less confusing. Hope it helps!

Well, that sucks. Guess I'll just keep one for my regular DS and sell the other one. Which one should I keep? The SDHC seems to lag a lot with my 4GB card, but it is less flashy and the color doesn't remind of urine.

I have the Gold R4i from .eu, the regular one, and the SDHC from www.r4i-sdhc.com, also the regular one, I believe.

Not going to buy any new cards for my 3DS if I have an AK2i, arguably one of the best cards available, that works on my 3DS. Thing is, I have another, old, fat DS that I'd like to keep either my R4i Gold (.eu one) or R4i SDHC (r4i-sdhc.com one) for, and I'm asking about which one's better. One catch is, that the SDHC R4i seems to have trouble with 4GB cards. Also, for the Gold R4i, its color reminds of urine, and the service and support seems lacking, compared to SDHC.

To anyone else reading this, I have a question regarding flashing cards. Isn't virtually any card flashable, as long as the developers get us the damn files?

Aww. If you had gotten the other R4i Gold you would have been able to use it on the 3DS, even if you bought it before 3DS came out. But no worries, you couldn't have known in any case.

Not all carts are flashable. For those which are, *technically* they should work if the team bothers to release a patch. That's not always so easy, of course. For example the Acekard team have had a lot of trouble with getting a 3DS patch for the oldest Acekard 2i model, the HW44. They'd actually released a patch already, claiming it would work, only for many reports to disprove that. I am sure they weren't giving false data on purpose. >.<

Then again it can also be said that both R4i-gold.eu and R4i-sdhc probably just want people to buy new carts, instead of updating their old ones again and again. That is quite likely too

Ah, I get it. Damn commercialism.

HW44? Didn't download any update for 2i specifically. Perhaps that's why my AK2i lags sometimes, especially during cinematic things like the DQ introductions and busy REDS screens. How can I tell if it's HW44 or not?

Don't think so, no. Usually, only the genuine versions of a flash card, to my knowledge, tend to support other firmwares, like the original R4 card, that can run a specific version of Wood. People usually won't bother to figure shit out for all those flash cards, as they're all clones and one big, shitty mess. Could be wrong, as I'm not the expert over here. Also, the firmware you have could already very well be based off of Wood, or hell, even AKAIO, for all I know. This card seems updated frequently, so wishing for other firmware isn't all that mandatory.

vlemos: You can try retrogamefan's menus, but no guarantees. If it works it works, if it doesn't you will just have to use whatever is on r4issdhc.com.

glysegui: No, that has nothing to do with freezing and lagging during games. All Acekard 2i models should run games fine. That sounds more like a microSD speeds issue. More on microSD speeds: http://gbatemp.net/t278137-ds-dsi-3ds-hacking-f-a-q
(under "What brand, size and class of SD card should I get for my flashcart?")

The only problem with HW44 I've heard of is that the firmware update(s) for v1.4.2 and for 3DS does not work on it.

Here are some clear instructions on how to check the model of your Acekard 2i: http://gbatemp.net/t285168-acekard-2i-3ds-...t&p=3548970
