Hacking R4i Gold help

My friend has a DSi and recently bought a R4i gold v1.4 (r4i-gold.eu)(I understand it's a clone). Can I get it to work on his 1.4.2E DSi?
How? I usually go to the Wiki section of the site to solve these little problems but the DS Flashcart Wiki section was not really helpful...

it is a toooo old card , i'm afraid you need a newest version card,
such as R4i Gold 3DS or R4i SDHC 3DS, can support all firmware
