Hi guys. I am excited to get my new R4i card, which should arrive tomorrow. Anyway, my main concern now is that my N3DS might not always detect it being inserted into system. Currently with my SC DSTwo, my N3DS doesn't always detect it. I have to remove/insert it several times before it is detected. Should I be worried or concerned about this issue?

Also, I am thinking about updating my N3DS to System Firmware 11.9 in preparation for the upcoming "Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story"; but wanted to make sure my new R4i Gold 3DS+ flashcard would work on it. Does anyone know if said flashcard works with System FW 11.9?

Thoughts and help greatly appreciated on all of this :)

Can confirm that the card works on the most recent firmware. I also had the same problem with my old DSTwo where it wouldn’t detect it sometimes and I can also confirm that the R4i 3DS Gold+ doesn’t have the same problem. At most it takes maybe one time of removing/reinserting before it’s recognized but I think that’s just the contacts in my system being a little dirty.

A bit late reply…
Blocking flashcarts is done with the Nintendo DS Cart Whitelist. See title list [3dbrew]. If you click on v11264 on this page, you will find out 7.0.0-13 was the last version with a whitelist update. Any cart that works on 7.0.0-13 works on all 3DS firmware versions. Nintendo basically gave up blocking them end of 2013.

About this contact issues: I have the feeling that flashcarts are not of the same quality or precision as the legit Nintendo games, use weaker plastic and tend to have more connection issues than the "real" games. In some cases one or two times re-inserting is needed with my flashcarts, too.
Nintendo game card [Wikipedia] For some reason the dimensions were removed entirely in newer article revisions instead of adding the different dimensions of the Switch carts.

My personal measurement results:
Legit Nintendo cartridge: 35.0mm * 33.0mm * 3.8mm
Acecard 2i: 35.0mm * 32.9mm * 4.0mm
R4i Gold 3DS: 35.2mm * 33.0mm * 3.9mm
