I'm new to homebrew and custom firmware for 3DS. I currently have a R4i save dongle that I've used to back up save files, but have been having problems with restoring a pokemon moon save. After reading some forum posts, it looks like I'll need to get into custom firmware/homebrew to be able to restore my .sav file.

I came across the B9S, and it looks like it's going to be the easiest way for me to get things rolling since I have a fully updated new 3DS and it will install boot9strap and Luma3DS CFW. I imagine from there I can use freeshop and somehow get my moon save copied over.

If anyone has thoughts on the matter, I'd love to hear them; such as other hardware I could use, etc?

How much does the B9S card cost? If it is over 15usd, you better buy normal r4i gold pro

The R4-B9S is a piece of crap that can't even play DS games, it literally only installs B9S. You are basically paying more for a cart that does less than it's standard counterpart, $17.99 vs $13.99
Buy an R4i Gold instead. For just 2$ more, you not only get a cart that can be used to install B9S, but then it can be flashed back to play DS games.

So the R4i Gold would work for the latest firmware? I think it's 11.6.
Nintendo stopped updating to block flashcarts around 7. So anything that worked past 7, will still work on 11.6. As well with the current method, you can flash the R4i Gold on stock OFW and restore it back to a useable flashcart when you are done.

Mkay, do you happen to know any reputable sites that sell the cart? Wouldn't want to get a fake.
