You should buy another flashcard, like the CycloDS Evolution. If you have any troubles with it, the team fixes them within days.
It's a great flashcard, well worth the money!

The R4 Team are dead, figuratively speaking. They stopped making carts and updating the firmware around a year ago. They mysteriously 'vanished' around the same time as Nintendo and over 50 other game companies tried to sue them. Any R4 card made since then is FAKE.

If you want an updated firmware for your R4 try YSMenu.

They are not really 'dead' (as in not living), they just abandoned the R4DS, and aren't going to make any further developments for it.
