Gaming R4DS SDHC CHEAT.DAT HELP PLEASE

hey everyone, im a little new to the forum and not familiar with everything yet im sure my question has been answered a few times but cut me some slack.
i just got my r4 working last night but my problem is the cheat.dat that came with all the files show up in another language. i googled for a new cheat.dat and found a few but when i replace the one thats already in the file the (y) button for cheats do not show up. im not sure why so im hoping you guys can help me solve my problem. any help would be appreciated. thanks everyone.

Are you running the original firmware?

If so, that is your problem.
The original firmware for the R4's can only recognize a certain number of cheat codes.

Either move on to a different firmware or edit your cheat file with r4cce.

im pretty sure its the latest firmware. i just watched a video on youtube and got the firmware from it. because the one i got from the r4ds site was not working. i was stuck on the loading screen

It does not matter if you are running the latest version of your firmware.

If you are running original firmware on an R4, you will have the cheat code problem.

From your description of your problem, that is what is happening to you.
You either have to edit your cheat file, so there are less games on it.
Or change your firmware to YSMenu or Wood.
I do not believe that Wood will work for you though, since you said you had an SDHC R4.
