Hacking R4DS Kernel 1.18 Coming Out?

Just curious, with so many recent updates for the other NDS cards. Do you think that the R4 Team will release an update soon?
Is there any possibilities of a real time save function in the update although I know the one put up by Opium has been considered as an April Fool joke.

Yeah, I don't think that they can add that feature with a firmware update.

ROM compatibility is ALL they ever update for nowadays. The R4 is tapped out.

Image and Music functions may come out because the current firmware seems to recognize them but says 'The types of files currently not allowed to operate' when you try to open them.

But it depends, currently the R4 Team don't need a major update because people are still buying the cartridge, regardless. Once their sales drop, they might make a new feature to increase sales again.

We have Moonshell/lmp-NG for that. Not worth the effort to add a player within the loader really.

Face it, anything without a 2.** number isn't going to have any new features. If you really want a 1.18, find some rom that doesn't work and report it to R4 Team.

I agree. It seems that all they're after is game compatibility, which they want to be 100%. They don't really care about RTS and stuff like that.

Because the loader is based on moonshell. Most flashcarts contain code from moonshell, and Moonlight gots lots of free flashcarts as a thank you present IIRC.

Off topic: does anybody know how to operate it? I got this movie and I've watched it with Moonshell. problem is I don't know which button acts as the "fast-forward" button. Wrong guess and I've to start over again. Anybody knows?

Well, it was pretty slow, but the "Right" button on the D-Pad did the trick. Just hold it down.

You can press Select, and use the stylus on the seek bar to forwared/rewind the movie file, as for audio.

I hope R4 Team fix this bug. I mean, Miami Nights Singles in the City (USA). Cheat code dont work in this game and it cant reset unlike other games.

I doubt they will add RTS, they first want to make 100% on all games compadible, not saying they suck or anything, i have a R4.

I guess I prefer better ROM compatibility than extra features. Having both is nice, but I put my priority on compatibility.

Like Rayder said R4 is pretty much tapped out. The next logical step would be the R4-2 or something along those lines. Something with SDHC compatibility and all the good stuff I should have bought a CycloDS for. But the R4 is great the way it is.
