I don't really think an update is needed. The R4 does it's job fine. I don't recall Wii Connectivity ever being advertised for it.

What! all i want is wii-ds connectivity! if it wasnt for people saying that there cart is better because we dont have to campaign to get wii-ds connectivity fixed, i wouldnt be in such a bad mood!

If you REALLLY want Wii-DS connectivity sell your R4 to some random kid at school, you can easily fetch a good $60-100 off someone who doesn't know the actual price but knows what he can do with it.

Then buy a cyclods.

Expecting the R4 team to implement Wii-DS connectivity is NUTS!! The R4 hardly updates the card even for compatibility issues. The R4 doesn't need new features for it to sell as its name sells itself so the team doesn't bother.

So don't get your hopes up.

I'm trying to buy a CycloDS (it's not that easy to find one here in Brazil) exactly for the wii connectivity, but I know what you're feeling. My kid is also sick for Pokemon.

Just get the CycloDS. Can anyone confirm if this is the most futureproof flashcart to this date? Because if it is, it's safe to say that you (8BitWaluigi) better off replace your R4 and get a flash cart that supports Wii DS.

If CycloDS is indeed futureproof, then an update in the future will also fix connectivity between Animal Crossing DS and Wii.

No card is 100% future proof but yes the cyclods and supercard are the best cards to buy with most features and room for more in the future if needed.

This topic has just become one big joke now and needs to be ended, especially as we have learned the R4 never actually officially supported wii connectivity.

I used to own an R4 and the difference between an R4 fanboy (8BitWalugi) is i know when enough is enough and got another card.

The question is not whether they WANT to fix Wii connectivity, but whether they CAN. I myself stayed with the R4 for a long time waiting for an update, hesitating to switch, but I am glad I gave up and made the switch. I believe it is impossible to update the R4 to do it. The R4 uses an ASIC that interfaces with the MicroSD card, so the code running on the DS is variable, whereas the code running on the R4 is rigid. Now the CycloDS uses an FPGA and Flash Memory, so the actual code running on the Cyclo can be modified. Team Cyclops explained that they achieve Wii connectivity by intercepting read commands from the DS slot and remapping them, something that can only be done from the card.
