Gaming r4 shdc cheat question

I just got my r4 for christmas.
I downloaded a game, mystery dungeon explorers of sky. I added the file cheat.dat to the folder _system_. Started up my game but there did not showed a list of cheats.
What am i doing wrong?

what kind of an r4 are you using?

r4ds, r4 III, r4 SDHC, R4i etc,etc.

edit: oh and uh, wrong section to make this topic. should go in r4 section.

Im using a R4 SDHC

you need to REPLACE your cheat.dat folder with the new one
Not just put it in

I did that, it asked to overwrite it and i said yes.

That's not it.
I have only 1 game no it's on the top.
And it's not that the cheats are limited, none of them shows.
So it can't be that fault.

Is your cheat file renamed to the right thing?

No is the big cheatfile which i download from cheats.gbatemp.net. Its all in 1.
