Hacking r4 shdc cheat question

I just got my r4 for christmas.
I downloaden a game, mystery dungeon explorers of sky. I added the file cheat.dat to the folder _system_. Started up my game but there did not showed a list of cheats.
What am i doing wrong?

That game has no cheats. Check Codejunkies.com for codes. If there is use R4cce to insert them in to your device.

It's a new game . If there isn't any codes then you'll have to wait, but i'm sure there is.
