Hacking R4 connect to Wii?

I'm thinking of getting the Pokemon Ranch WiiWare "game" to use as a storage system for my DS pokemon. What I'm wondering is will the R4 connect to Pokemon Ranch, and if it can, will the Wii consider that to be a mod and lock me out of the shop channel?
