I don't like heavy government regulation, but I don't like mega corps having power either. I'd rather get reamed by the US govt rather than Comcast eat my wallet for breakfast. I support Net Neutrality, but at the end of the day, nothing really bad has happened in the few months that NN has been dead, so whatevs.
But that's because net neutrality isn't really gone yet. It'll only be after June 11th that we'll see what ISPs will do with all their newfound power. My prediction is that they'll be all goody-goody for a while, maybe even a few years, and then once the furor around net neutrality has died down, they'll slowly start introducing things like fast lanes first at small levels, then slowly expand the "offerings." Like a frog in slow-boiling water.

I remember pre 2016 internet! I couldn't stream youtube because I had to pay for it from my isp!

You know what's more important than net neutrality?
NUT NEUTRALITY.
Imagine calling your comcast rep so you can get an adult package
The operator is a nice christian woman, she probably has a husband and kids
You (with bated breath): Uh.... could I get the porno premium package?
Think about it. None of us want to be ***that*** guy.

Yes, US internet will go to the dark times of pre 2016
The times when ISPs cut connections to torrents, redirected search results to generate ad revenue without user knowledge, slowed down the speed to Netflix, and just fucked with the users.

Oh god, you guys remember the times pre-2016 internet when we were all running 128bits per second and with our routers came a shotgun to blast our heads off because it was so bad?

Yeah, me too.
Yes because that is totally what people are saying...you're not making an exaggeration at all...

Couldn't be that people are worried that their ISP might start screwing them over by limiting their connections, download speeds, amount of data they can have, and what sites they can visit over others, and setting price bracket on different speeds and freedoms. You know, like certain ISP's are currently doing, pushing for or, or have done before net neutrality was established.

I notice usually the ones who think it is just fear mongering are those have never had to deal with it in some form or fashion and think that it will never affect them because it hasn't yet.

oh noes we will go back to the days where there wasn't NN and everything worked fine. You know those days when FB, YouTube, Twitter etc didn't block people for having different opinions...what a second.

Guys...the reason there is a pseudo monopoly on the ISP is because of GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS. The less government paperwork there is the easier it will be for the new kid on the block to come through and give us some real competition. A lot of people give Comcast shit and they need it. They do have a monopoly in a lot of areas and this is because they paid of their government buddies to get special deals that nobody else gets. Agro the government sucks at everything.

There aren't going to be any fast lanes, everything will be fine. Hell even if there were...there are still anti-consumer laws on the book so I just don't understand why everyone thinks this is a bad thing.

What I don't understand is if loosing Net Neutrality is not big deal then why was the holy bible of 3ds hacking https://3ds.hacks.guide/ supporting NN to the point they had an automated system that allowed you to call every representative in your state to show support for net neutrality. Also github and many other websites that gbatemp members visit regularly? hmmm...

fear mongering, misinformation etc.

Oh? Enlighten me. Having Charter/Spectrum/Optimum and CenturyLink, I can say that I haven't seen this. Not to dismiss this claim, but never had seen/heard/read of torrents being cut off. The search redirects, yes. That still happens though..

Ehh.. To be fair, in most cases on this.. the democratic party is "You don't force your religion or bedroom believes on others..." While the republican part is almost always "THE BIBLE SAYS!" *ignoring that most of them don't even -know- what the bible says*
