Edit; and yeah it's obvious but I wouldn't have thought about it without a precaution, so it's nice to have supportive and informative people help/inform me
I am going to be honest. Being an early adopter to A9LH, I can say, be happy with the speeds we have now. When I first started the guide was like 2 paragraphs and took over 4 hours to finish. Most of the guide could be summed up with "Git gub."
Really setting up A9LH would take like 10 minutes, but the safety nets added are time consuming for a reason. There has to be some form of protection for the user and most of the time consumed is just backing up your important stuff, like the NAND.

In fact, this new process is even faster than the one we had not too long ago. We used to have to downgrade to 9.2, then downgrade to 2.1. Now we've cut out like 30 minutes from the guide by simply downgrading straight to 2.1!

Really? Back when I first started it took over 4 hours to step up. Now it takes maybe 30 minutes. You kids are so god damn spoiled, just be happy that we were able to get it down to 30 minutes. You didn't have to spend 4 hours setting it up!

Actually that's not really faster anymore. Since we've gotten rid of the downgrade to 9.2 process. Basically it's now about the same amount of time. Just downgrade straight to 2.1 and install A9LH. Then upgrade back to your old OFW. It's the same process and basically the same amount of time spent.
Yeahi know but couldnt you just run a9lh installer on 11.2 insted of doing any downgradeing

I've read people say they were going to do it, but never heard anything past that. It should in theory work. Being that the systems I've been hacking aren't testing systems, I am not willing to test it. I do have systems set aside to test stuff, but I don't have a new3DS set aside to test potentially risky stuff like that.
Also that method would only work on a new3DS, not a 2DS

I see i do agree with you (the safer the better in my opinion) but i do wonder if it does work for people like the op.

It won't because the OTPLess method only works on the New3DS. Plus I really won't suggest it due to the unknown reasons behind the bricks.

No matter what, don't system format your 2DS while on 2.1 or anything lower than 6.x.

Isn't there a tool to fix this now? Although it requires cubic ninja, oot3d, or a sky3ds but at least it's not the blunder it used to be.

Yeah i knew it only works on new 3ds's and the bricks. I too would reccomend takeing the long route but it will be useful to know for those with new 3ds's who want to take the risk for quicker speeds.

Alright, then I would agree, it is faster. You do cut out the whole 2.1 downgrade, basically taking a 20+ minute process right out.
But to the current users and guests viewing my posts. Don't do it.
