Gaming quick questions

i have recently decided that i might want to get myself a psp.

can someone quickly give me an outline of what is required to change the firmware soz i can use homebrews and such?

it looks like at the local games store they have a few psp 1/2000's for $119 ish.

how will i know whether or not a certian model is hackable? i dont think they let you do returns there.

all 1000s are hackable and as far as I know you can't tell if a 2000 is or not without being able to use your pandora
