While following the guide at http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901 I ran in to an issue softmodding my lu66 3.4u wii

While trying to install IOS61 it came up file not found and tried to connect to the wireless internet which I don't have. Long story short IOS61 is not installed. Should I try to get it or just continue on with the guide?

Some games use the shop channel indirectly.. I´d recommend using NUSD to DL the latest IOS 61, pack it as wad and install as per guide..

I actually use linux so NUSD doesn't work for me.... Is there anywhere else I could get the file?

Of that i'm not sure.. don't use Linux myself :S
You could try to just continue and run games, if you run into problems, post again?

EDIT: Meaning, AFAIK there's no games that run solely off of IOS 61, and only games like GH and RB use it for shop access..
You could also try the nintendo shop updater mentioned in an earlier thread (too tired to look it up for you, sorry)
Dunno if that'll install necessary IOS's though

EDIT2: I guess you beat me to that one, vetta

does DOP IOS work also the new wiiscu was posted on wiibrew only days ago it updates the shop channel ios doesnt it? http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiSCU if you can get to a router long enough with your wii it would be a snap...

Changelog

v0.23 (unofficially contributed by SifJar)

* Fixes Shop Channel installation issues by getting v18 instead of just getting latest version

v0.22 (unofficially contributed by illinialex24 and Bionic Sonic):

* Fixed the IOS60 stub issue by getting v6174 instead of the latest version.
WiiSCU uses PatchMii to update the following to their latest versions:

* IOS16
* IOS38
* IOS60
* IOS61
* News Channel
* Forecast Channel
* Mii Channel
* Photo Channel
* Shop Channel

Thank you all very much.

I should be able to apply the IOS after finishing the rest of the guide without adverse effects, right?

I want to get a preloader on before I start messing with wads too much. Working on the wii is a bit scary for me. It's not that I'm not techy, it's just that I'm more 1998 techy.

It's hilarious how fast you can fall behind the tech curve.
