Homebrew quick question about video game hero

does the .nds file (the game) have to be in the root of the card, or can i put in my games folder? because i think the mistake i made with doom ds is that i put it in the games folder, and it might have had to be in the root which leaded to the destruction of that memory card

Ithink that and the folder for the homebrew have to be in the root.

On the AK2, I have the .nds in my games folder and the data dir in root with no problems.
