Im currently on menuhax luma3ds on 11.0 and dont want to update to 11.1,

Is there a way to set it so the console wont accidently update and can still have access to freeshop etc...

Set up TubeHax DNS. From http://smealum.github.io/3ds/:

  1. On your 3DS, open the System Settings app, then go to Internet Settings and Connection Settings. From there, select your favorite Connection, tap the Change Settings button, and on the second page head over to the DNS section. Once there, select "No" for "Auto-obtain DNS", and under Detailed Setup, enter the following address : 107.211.140.065.
  2. Save these new settings and close the System Settings app.

note tubehax breaks eShop. also 3DS doesn't automatically update, but it will nag you about it.

if you're waiting on BootNTR to be updated, then you can use ctr-httpwn to keep eShop access. otherwise, you should just update, because you don't lose anything from it.

I thought updating broke menuhax ? Or is that just if you dont have CFW?

Do i need to set it for just primary or primary and secondary?

i thought i've stated it in many threads allready NTR works in 11.1 using the new BootNTR cia BUT needs a Dev Luma + am 11.0 firmware.bin. but right now thers no good reason Menuhax OR A9LH users to Update to 11.1 @_@

I remember that this exploit is patched...

TubeHax? TubeHax isn't really an exploit, it's just a DNS server that filters out Nintendo's and I think YouTube's servers. It works fine, I currently use it on my Wii U.
I used to use it before. Until youtube was updated. Then i laid off my 3ds for a while until I discovered cfw. But im sure it was patched at the time.

Again, it's not an exploit, and again, I use it myself, every single day. There is nothing to patch. Nintendo or YouTube(Google) can't do anything about it.

You'd have to understand what DNS and how it works for me to explain it to you properly. To put it simply, the DNS server is what allows the device to translate a named address like "example.com" to an ip address like "5.5.5.5". What TubeHax does is simply make all known Nintendo URLs redirect to nothing (probably something like 127.0.0.1). As DNS is the only way of retrieving the IPs required for a connection to Nintendo, it will always fail. Nothing short of Nintendo removing or limiting your ability to modify the DNS servers will change that (and even then, people would just block via their home router or something similar).

Edit: I feel like I should note that hardcoding the IPs probably is technically an option for Nintendo. It wouldn't be convenient as I'm assuming most of the addresses are actually round-robins and/or select servers that perform better depending on the user's location. Nintendo could devise a scheme that downloads IP lists, that could be a bit annoying to circumvent (without CFW), but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.
