I'm new to gateway and I was wondering if emunand would automatically download updates like sysnand if left with internet on and on standby?

Probably. If you want to test it out make sure you have a emunand backup first. Let us know.

Yes, it works just like sysnand. Not that it matters much though. Usually you can have emunand updated and when a new firmware is released (just like right now), it doesn't take long until GW releases a fix for emunand so that you can update afterwards.

well... you can still play online tho. if you only turn on the wifi when you're inside the game, it won't download anything and you don't need to be in the latest firmware to play online either

Ahh thanks for clarifying. I was paranoid of the 3ds downloading the update while I'm playing.
