There are so many different modchips, that I got lost with all the features. lol. Which would you probably say is most feature rich? I've looked up WiiKey, and Cyclowiz and they seem very similar. Both upgradeable, etc... but any other feature differences? What about OpenWii?

Also, this statement on the features page of the wiikey website got me wondering:
"Supports fullsize 4GB discs for gamecube homebrew"
Gamecube backups can be on "fullsize 4GB discs" right?

Wiikey, once the golden boy of the Wii chip "scene" the lack of updates/promised features has severely dented the rep it had. A wiikey clone can be picked up for less than a new DVD though so it is a viable option.
Iterations and other variants come in the form of a the WiiD and Wiikit.

Cyclowiz, suffered a major blow at the start of its life. Nowadays in the running for best chip.

WiiNinja: the deluxe version is also one of the top tier chips.

As far as I am aware the move by cyclowiz towards homebrew chips is about the only big upside to it.

Homebrew, if you have the ability to make one (normally you just need to program a chip) then these are good as well.

"Supports fullsize 4GB discs for gamecube homebrew"
The Wii takes DVD sized discs as standard so it means homebrew and if you use one of the various multidisc makers you can do copies as well. I believe all chips support this.

WOW, that's some really detailed information O.O many thanks also for the update on which modchip is currently "better"

I'll start to read more into it now that I have a slighty better idea of everything

Damn I always mess that one up, thanks ZeWarriorReturns.

No problem SLy CaT, you might want to do some more reading though as things change fairly rapidly. There has been somewhat of a resurgence in gamecube homebrew of late as well.

Thanks once again FAST6191. Along with your initial information and others, I decided to go with OpenWii with an ATmega chip.
