Hey everyone! Newbie here.
I'm thinking of either making my own Type-C to Type-C cables or at least buying one that's short. This is for injecting payloads from my Phone (OnePlus 6T) which only has a Type-C port. I've made a lot of mouse cables before and paracorded them but that's way easier I believe. I have a few questions before I attempt to do so:
1. Is OTG required on the cable between the Switch and my Phone? I read that the phone must be put into OTG Storage mode and that it's a specification in the cable. However, a lot of Type-C cables don't mention anything about OTG..
2. Is the 56K OHM resistor that important? I was just thinking of getting two Type-C male DIY ends with housing covers and simply soldering them together.
If anyone has done this before or has any experience, please let me know!
Thanks!!
EDIT: I can't add hyperlinks or links in general since I'm new to the forums, unfortunately. But I'm happy to Discord/PM the links to the cable / Type-C DIY Male I was looking at purchasing if required!
EDIT2: Sorry I can't PM Either. It'll have to be via. Discord ><
EDIT3: Okay! So from a very nice person on Discord, they said that any normal Type-C to Type-C Cable will be fine, since it'll do Data and that's all I need to inject/send payloads from Phone > Switch. I also found out that the 56K resistor stuff isn't important because both ends are Type-C (and therefore, made to support the same standards/voltages/currents). Can anyone confirm/debunk this? I'd like to be safe before making my own cable and frying either my Phone or Switch..
