is it true that gateway is now region locked, so o more european roms on NA handhelds? and if emunand is blocked what will happen with future releases?

No, there's a logical reason for this:

Patches that allow region spoof were not adapted to work on 7.0. Gateway just have to update their launcher, that's all.
