Hey guys,

I just started using backups with the PS2, but I already encountered and read about some games that have some issues. That's why I wanted to ask all of you about the loaders available und some games that does not work for me. At the moment I use the HD Loader or the Open PS2 Loader with an HDD on a fat PS2.

Example: I tried to play Klonoa 2. The game runs perfectly - the sound does not. In the Main Menu screen there is no music at all and some sound effects are totally missing.

Also I wanted to ask if Kingdom Hearts 2 is now fully playable with the gummi ship missions. I played the prologue and everything's going smooth.. could not test these missions yet, but I read about an error that does not let you enter any mission to come to another world.

And are HDL and OPL the only Loaders? Don't read about any other yet.

Maybe really stupid questions, but I would be grateful to have some information. The more I google, even more questions keep coming - so it feels.

greetings Bimmel

OPL is the best loader around, if you're experiencing some issues then you should definitely fiddle around with the compatibility settings. A quick Google search tells me that Klonoa 2 (SLUS_201.51) does have sound issues when loaded from an HDD, you might want to try loading it through SMB or USB before calling quits and using ESR instead. When all else fails, troublesome games are best burned to a DVD.

I also noticed that there are some compatibility differences between OPL 0.8 and OPL 0.9.1 - games that work on one don't work on the other and vice versa, so perhaps you should try a different version of OPL. I'm running OPL 0.8 in an SMB setup and I'm not running into a whole lot of issues, what version are you using?

Hey Foxi! First of all thanks for your answer, and sorry for the late response.. totally forgot I posted this.

I just came to work on the Klonoa 2 problem today. Normaly I use OPL 0.9.2, also tried it with version 0.8 - but no luck.
Then I tried it via USB and it worked just fine! No stuttering as I played the first level. Loading times are okay, will get used to it.

Did not expect such an easy solution! Thanks again!

mk2escort: Thank you too, of course. =)

You're welcome. USB is not the preferable method of loading, but occasionally it does fix some problems. Star Wars Racer: Revenge is the same - it doesn't load from SMB, but works fine from USB for whatever reason. Glad that you could resolve your issue. ;)
