Hacking Question on Downgrading emuNAND and PkHex

I have a 3DS XL w/ Gateway 3DS on sysNAND v4.5 and emuNAND v9.7. At the moment I have a copy of Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (AS) on my Gateway that has been updated to v1.4.

I understand that I won't be able to use PkHex as the emuNAND version is above 9.5 and the AS game version is above 1.1, and plan to use the following way to restore my ability to use PkHex.

1. Delete the v1.4 AS update by going into System Settings -> Data Management -> 3DS -> Downloadable Content.
2. Format emuNAND on the Gateway menu so that the emuNAND goes back to v4.5.
3. Use PkHex through the web browser injection method.
4. Once I'm done using it, update emuNAND back to v9.7 and AS back to v1.4.

I'm not sure whether this plan actually works...? Also, if I were to format my emuNAND, does that mean that whatever DLC I have bought on the Nintendo Shop (in emuNAND) also gets erased too?

Why don't you just use savedatafiler?

I just went to read up about the savedatafiler method, which also involves PkHex. Does this method work on a Gateway 3DS emunand v9.7 w/ Pokemon AS v1.4?
