ROM Hack [Question] GARCTool can't pack GARCs?

Hi everyone, I'm having this weird issue with GARCTool 1.3a, maybe someone can help shed a little light on it?

So far I can successfully unpack most GARC files, mod the contents, and then repack them back into GARCs to load into romfs. But sometimes I encounter a GARC that can be unpacked and modded, but GARCTool can't repack. Instead, I get this message:

I'm not exactly sure what it means, and when this happens it generates a small 1KB .garc file that is probably corrupted. The weird thing is that this only applies to certain GARCs (I've only seen it happen on Pokémon X so far) and it's possible to get this error even on clean unmodded files (eg. Extract GARC, attempt to repack files back into GARC without making any changes). Does anyone know what's causing this?

- I'm going to try and do another clean dump of the romfs from my cart and try again, maybe the original dump had problems.

Small GARCs can't be edited in any way, I believe. I've gone through all OR/AS GARCs and just a few smaller ones don't work.

Even weirder, the program is giving me the same error for every folder now. Folders that used to work no longer can be packaged back into GARCs.

Double weirdness, I can no longer delete the broken files generated by GARCTools, it says the documents are still being used by GARCTools even though it isn't actually running.

Check if it's still running in task manager?

There's always the option of restarting and hoping it fixes everything.

If it keeps happening, make sure the folders you're working on have the security tab set up to give "full control" permission to your user.

I ended up restarting everything - deleting all extracted files, uninstalling and reinstalling all applications, and using yet another fresh dump. Seems to have done the trick. My friends freaked out when they saw anime versions of themselves appear as the Elite Four.

EDIT:
using Pk3DS, I tried changing the first Youngster in the game to a Twin with a double battle, but now talking to the character on the map instantly freezes the game. Did I do something wrong?
