Gaming Question about TWENY Day 2 save

Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I tried searching and couldn't find a specific explanation. I have a M3 and the USA version of the game. I tried downloading the DAY 2 hosted on gbatemp, but when the game is no recognizing the save. I tried renaming it from a .sav file to a .dat file, but still no success. Am I just making an oblivious mistake?

make sure, lets say the game name is 1923 - TWEWY(U).nds that the sav is named 1923 - TWEWY(U).sav

Example: If your card only supports 512KB saves, and the save is 256KB, you must convert the save.

I think that may be the problem. All my other saves are 257KB and in DAT format. When I download the save it is in .sav format and is 512KB. How do I convert it to a DAT format and reduce the save to 257KB?

Instructions: load save file. Select source format as R4, CycloDS etc.. Select output as M3.
