Hacking Question about the R4

Is it supposed to not always get detected by the DS? I mean, lately, about 40% of the time I turn it on, it goes straight to the DS's menu, and not the R4's. And then it detects nothing in slot1. Is this normal? Is there a fix?

you probably don't have a solid connection between your DS and the contact points of your r4. try pressing the r4 casing together around the edges to make sure it's not loose.

You could try putting some tape on the back of the R4 over the area where the contacts are on the other side. That could help press the contacts of the R4 against the contacts of the DS better.

Sometimes, the contacts just get tarnished. In that case, you could try cleaning the contacts, or even simpler, just eject/insert the R4 a few times to sort of clean the contacts. I use the eject/insert method to great success.

I took mine apart and stuck a piece of paper folded a few times behind the circuit board. Same idea as Rayder mentioned with the tape, but hidden.

p.s. that makes your r4 heavier. lol
