i dont find none information about REAL lifespan of a SSD, in the case Kingston V300 120gb
the only information i know was given by kingston itself:

v300 120gb supports 64TB TBW (total bytes written) minimum

i know.... 64tb its too much, especially when i use the ssd only for OS and some programs
i use a seagate 1tb 7200.12 to games/programs and a samsung 1.5tb to files and stuff

my question is .... should i be worried about this " limitation " , my plan is to change the bigger ssd in 2- 3 years, i 'm afraid to my current does not hold on until there

little bit crazy about that:P

2 years? pretty sure it will not be a problem for you.
if theese things got short lifetimes, by short usually means 10-20 years or something like that.. you dont have to worry about it
2 years is nothing..
and it depends on how much do you write to them.. if you keep to write to the same blocks over and over they wear out faster than others, but built in software deals with that problem... and its something you can't control much...

my problem isnt actually, the amount of time it'll be functioning, but the TBW itself

i'm afraid 64TB isn't this much
even i worrying about in what HD i'll install my things, as you say, its something i cant control

btw, thank you for the answer :)

Yeah observe some basic concepts (try to disable useless logs, disable defrag/never defrag, probably best to not use it for swap/page files, probably best not to use some crazy torrent client that thrashes the drive...) and it should be fine.

Some of the higher end server stuff has lower lifetimes, not to mention server work in general often being a drive grinder, but day to day personal computer/gaming computer is not so bad.

what do they mean by 64TB?
per sector\transistor? (64tb of data rewrited stressed on a single bit)
or 64tb the entire drive? (writed (and rewrite) data on the entire SSD til it gets a failure?)

all i had read is, the lifespan of the ssds on a average consumer is never inferior to 10 years..
if you don't do stupid things like defrag (defragger tools had been updated to being optimized to ssd, but they are not needed) there is no way you can kill it that easy...

according to kingston... the lifespan of this entire SSD is 64TB of data write/rewrite befores starts do fail

much less of Corsair Neutron GTX wich lifespan is 1,2PB (yes, petabytes) or a samsung 840, 900TB

of course, this values are provide by endurance tests ands way above recommended by brand

i just remember something, make sure to disable browser restore functions...
when my power goes down, when i turn on the computer back on, the browser restores to the same pages i was when the power went out...
so, the browser keeps creating that history every time i open\navigate a page. you may want to disable that to save some life of the SSD

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.

What matters now is that he's doing alright.
