Being that my Battery is coming from hong kong, I'm expecting a rather long wait for it to get here. So, in the time being, since I got my 8gb Memory Stick, I was considering using ChickHEN to temporarily hack my PSP to use some emulators.

Now, I have OFW 5.03 on my PSP at the moment. If I hack to ChickHEN, I can always go and hack to 5.50 GEN D-33 or whatever the latest Gen CFW is at a later point, right? Because ChickHEN is completely temporary, and only works when I run the files, right?

Also, is ChickHEN one of those deals where if my PSP has a certain motherboard, it will brick? Because I have no idea what kind of motherboard I have at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's not a newer PSP 2000, since it originally had 3.95 on it. It probably had an even earlier OFW on it, because the guy most likely updated to play GTALCS(The game I got with it.).

tl;dr version - Can I update to ChickHEN safely(I don't know my motherboard model) from OFW 5.03, then to the latest GEN firmware later when I get my pandora's battery?

Run ChickHen and launch pspident to figure out what motherboard you have just in case anyways. I don't know what firmware GTALCS even uses so meh.
If its TA-088v3 then it is not hackable. I believe anything under that is hackable.
ChickHen is 100% safe no matter what on 5.03 since all it does is allow you to access homebrew.
If it is hackable you can use the Recovery Flasher to flash yourself the 5.00 m33-6 and then run the 5.50 GEN-D3 updater.

I do believe that this deserves...

Well, I know that the Pandora's battery can be used to unbrick, so I'm still very happy that I purchased one.

However, my friend who has had a hacked PSP from the start told me I needed a battery. Apparently he's falling behind on the updates, lol.

Thanks guys.

Bah, I just want to make sure I'm not doing it wrong.

I put the ChickHEN files where they were supposed to go, in PSP/PHOTO, then put the h.bin file where it was supposed to go, on the root. Now, I know it's normal for it to not boot up, and require a lot of resets, but I'm just making sure I did everything right, cause it's not booting up for me. .-.

so ChickHen works on 6.10?

Do you mean ChickHen not booting up? It shouldn't really take that many tries should it? I've only done it once and it worked for me. Check if you got the the slim version. Try reseting your settings to default. Turn off auto umd start and turn off umd cache as well.

@GameWinnter ... NO now where did I even imply that.

Okay so..

My PSP is Mother board TA88, PSP version is Slim 2.0, and my Motherboard type is Slim (02g). Can I hack it?

Doesn't say. I'm using PSPident 0.3 and it says

Motherboard Type: Slim (02g)
Motherboard model: TA-088

PSP Version: Slim v2.0

Alright. I needed a 500.pbp, which I'm getting. So, I put that on the root of my card, go into the recovery flasher, select 5.00, Install a new CFW, wait for it to finish, then go and run the 5.50 GEN D3 updater, let that run, and then I'm done?

Erm no put the 500.pbp in the recovery folder with the recovery flasher. I think that's right but I would check my psp but I have the 500.pbp file on the root and in the recovery folder.
