Question about dumping owned carts

Hi all, just want to confirm something here as searching yields so many different results.

I own several game carts and wish to dump them with current updates. I do not care for downloading games or updates from other sources.

Do I,
Install game on OFW and update everything required.
Boot into SYSCFW and copy over updates only via DBI MTP.
Return to OFW and uninstall game.
Boot into EMUCFW, dump game cart, install, then install updates from previous backup.

For my own games, is this a correct way or am I completely over complicating things?

If you own the carts, why would you bother with emummc? What exactly is your end goal?

To have current backups and have multiple games on SD card.

I get the whole Switch backups seem to be such a secretive topic, just looking for a correct approach.
