I know questions like this are probably just as tiresome as the "N64/GBA emulator for DS? lolololol", yet after some searching on google I haven't been able to figure out what is it exactly that's preventing hackers from exploiting the DSi specific features and power. If it's just not possible, that's fine, but I've just been curious since the advent of the PS Jailbreak, something thought to be pretty much impossible for the PS3 till recently.

There was some hacking progress made by wintermute and it involved a dsi exclusive game.

The DS runs all current flashcarts in DS-mode. One of the only ways to make homebrew that accesses the DSi features is to get support from the flashcart, first. And we don't know; we could have people already working on getting to DSi-mode.

The DSi can run in DS mode, or DSi mode.

Currently flash carts can only present themselves to a DSi as DS games, so they only get DS mode.

Once the DSi encryption is (publicly) broken, we should have DSi mode.
