You should install the shareware (or commercial version) and after that you'll find the .pak in the directory. Something like quake/id1/quake.pak

most torrents i find have 0 sources and there is not much quake 1 games to download in the first place.

Im getting horrible texture glitches and my weapon models arnt even showing up cept for the axe... anyone else getting this too?

"This is mad its running better on the DS than it did on the PC I had when quake was released."

Well from how others were talking it seemed like it was working fine.

The shareware version of Quake 1 can be found on the Quake DS site (i download it from there). And when I speak of install it, it's how to find the .pak (which is of course not the same as doom like jalaneme said).

sorry I was refering to the framerate not the glitches.

Its smooth which is a great start

just needs the glitches stomping on

It is running fine which is amazing in itself. For an early release this is a great accomplishment. The graphics issues are detailed on the website. We should be thankful that this was even released. Often developers hold off on early releases so they don't have to deal with complaints about an unfinished project. Be patient and this will turn into something great.

Finally a DS shooter where we can make our own levels! It is able to load custom levels right? I remember bringing down the screen with ~ back in the day to change to custom levels.

i turn on the R4 and then load the game up and it says "couldn't open / id1//pak0.pak "couldn't load gfx.wad" but the tings is when i downloaded the shareware version from that website those two mentioned files were not even in the rar file! so what is it talking about?

It sounds like you didn't patch the quakeds.nds binary with the R4TS.DLDI did you?

ok i'm going to patch the file now then.

edit: ok, i still have the error message, i patched the .nds file and the game still won't boot, does it have something to do with the location of the files? or is it because of gfx.wad file is missing, where can i get this gfx file? it should be part of the shareware file so i don't know why it wasn't included, i can't see the gfx file in the installation folder.

it doesn't bloody work i give up!

Make sure the patched program file is in the root directory and the .pak files and the configuration file are in the /id1 folder. It works fine on the R4DS after this is done. I've tried the shareware version and the full version. Both work.

Jala.. You have to install quake on your PC and after you'll find the .pak file on your computer. It's only after that you coould copy the .pak and use Quake DS
