Hacking PSX Game Saves

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and didn't see anything. I'm currently playing Tales of Destiny (J) v1.1, am about half way through it, and just found out that you can exploit a bug in v1.0 to get Lilith in your party. I'm relatively new to PSP emulation and am wondering if I could replace the 1.1 iso I'm using now with a 1.0 iso, change the filenames around, and continue playing like that, or would it corrupt the save? Is there any way to replace the iso while keeping the save file intact? Any and all help appreciated.

Make a backup and try it. If it doesn't work it doesn't work but at least you know.

This kind of stuff depends almost entirely on the game itself. Some games will use saves across versions (and even regions), while some won't.
